Principal's Welcome Letter
Dear students, parents, and guardians:
Welcome to Alvord High School (AHS)! I am honored to be your principal for this school year. Our staff is ready, willing, and committed to supporting your student's academic goals. Many of our high school students come to our campus to make up credits and return to their comprehensive high school to graduate with their class. It is no surprise, however, that once students experience the learning environment at AHS, they decide to graduate here. Some of the reasons are a smaller school/class environment, a caring and supportive staff, structured systems in place, a rapid credit recovery method, less distractions, and a beautiful learning environment.
Last year, we graduated over 160 students. One of the main reasons is because they clearly understand the following school wide expectations:
Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance.
• Attend school every day, Monday through Friday.
• Absences must be made up through Saturday Academy
Academics: Steady progress toward graduation and evidence of serious intent.
• Work daily in all classes
• Earn 25 credits per month!
• Make continuous and steady progress toward graduation!
Attitude: Always displays appropriate citizenship and behavior on campus or school events.
• No behavior referrals
• No suspensions
These best practices encourage and hold students accountable in completing their required credits as soon as possible. Last, but not least, I have an open-door policy where students and parents are always welcome to meet with me and communicate in either English or Spanish. You can also email me at christopher.prescott@alvordschools.org and I will reply to you as soon as possible. I am here to serve you and your student's academic needs. Thank you for choosing Alvord High School to meet your student's academic needs. On behalf of the AHS staff, we wish your students the very best for this coming 2026-2027 school year!
Thank you,
Mr. Christopher Prescott
Principal
